NOTES ON HOLLYWOOD: Jada, Paula & Mariah

jada pinkett smith The real life Mr. & Mrs. Smith are on a roll. While two-time Academy Award nominee Will Smith has a new movie ('I Am Legend') in post production, his beloved wife Jada Pinkett Smith has her own irons in the fire. The 36-year-old Baltimore native is currently filming the sequel to the animated hit 'Madagascar,' and just signed on for a filmed remake of the 1938 classic 'The Women.' Directed by Diane English, the story centers on a group of gossipy, high-society women who spend their days at the beauty salon and haunting fashion shows. Debra Messing, Candice Bergen, Annette Benning, Meg Ryan and Eva Mendes are also down with the program. And it should be hot. Pinkett Smith was most recently seen in the Adam Sandler-led drama 'Reign Over Me,' which arrives on DVD next month.

paula abdul

Hope you didn't think Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell would be the only judges reaping rewards from the 'American Idol' frenzy. The show's femme fatale Paula Abdul, is the center of docu-drama series titled 'Hey Paula,' premiering on the Bravo network June 28 at 10:00 PM ET/PT. The show, which airs regularly every Thursday, paints a three-dimensional portrait of the 45-year-old former pop singer and her "Crazy Cool" world – from the stressed celebrity and tough business woman to the comedic prankster. According to production notes, viewers will see Abdul up close 24/7 as she battles insomnia during the much-talked-about "American Idol" satellite media tour interviews; bumps heads with QVC execs; develops her own fragrance and plays practical jokes on her assistants. Okay ... enough with that.

mariah careyJust before her much-touted return to the big screen -- with the Lee Daniels-helmed drama 'Tennessee' -- Mariah Carey reportedly will be the subject of a spoof of her life. For the film short, 'Lovers & Haters,' Spike Lee will direct and produce what is being reported as an upcoming 15-minute film short to be released in Sept. The plot: a comical look at "the 'lovers and haters' that she encounters along the way, and how she overcomes those obstacles to still be one of the most talented and loved musical sensations in history," hip-hop website SOHH.com reported. Although it sounds a bit far fetched, and the reports hasn't been officially confirmed, anything is possible with the Carey.

1. I am so glad Ms carry is still doing well. I am a big fan of her music. If she makes a movie, i am sure it will be done with a touch of class as here singing projects. But i would love to see her do a album from a mixure of songs by black women artist from the 50s and 60s, such as, Laburn Baker, Nancy Wilson, Dianna Washington, Baby Washington, Maxzine Brown, Ruth Brown, and Etta Jones. These ladies was great singers, and to bring back their songs would not only be profitable, it would enrich black history with our youth today. Ms Carry you would be sure to win many awards with such album
