GEORGE FOREMAN: God in My Corner

Posted May 21st 2007 12:00PM by Felicia Pride
Filed under: More Than Words

"I hated everybody. I didn't even like myself." That's what former heavyweight fighter George Foreman said this morning on Today as he discussed his life before he became an ordained minister (I didn't know he was one), which he also chronicles in his new spiritual memoir, GOD IN MY CORNER.

According to the publisher, Thomas Nelson, GOD IN MY CORNER tells not only the life story of George, but more importantly, it tells how God has been behind the scenes of every part of his life--from a boyhood marked by scrapes with the law, to Olympian gold medalist, to two-time heavyweight champion of the world, to father of a family of ten, to ordained minister, to founder of The George Foreman Youth Community Center, to successful businessman. God has been there every step of the way, building George into a man of faith who is seen worldwide as a positive role model and a man whose face is always beaming with the joy that only God can give. Now George shares those life lessons with the world.

In reviews that I've read about GOD IN MY CORNER, the book definitely focuses heavily on Foreman's spirituality not his boxing or the man himself. For those sports fans out there looking for insight into his career, you may not find it here.

Personally, I am interested in how he built his Grill empire. Cause I know on occasion, I've thanked God for my George Foreman grill.

1. To whom ever may read this, I consider it a blessing and a Honor to Talk about God, or Jesus Christ any day rather than a grill. What George Foreman is trying to accompolish through the production of this book, is simply to say this...
He Knows a Man -- A man who from His Birth knew him. even when he didn't know himself --- A man who saved him from a life of poverty and despair --- a man who by all accounts has NEVER loss A case or Mishandled a claim -- A Man in Who this World Feels they don't have to get to know because they are ok --- But George say, HIS NAME IS JESUS, Mighty God, Emanuel --- THe God Who can and Will save the people of this World from their sins, If only they would accept HIM --- He is Lord and Father to ALL Who are His... This is The Man that George wants people to meet throught this book and how our precious God has Changed His Life Forever. What a Way to reach so many people who are loss and feel as though they have no where to turn. God is Great and WORTHY TO BE PRAISED. and He is Offering a better way to any one who wants to read and believe his Story on How God has changed his life forever. So that yours can change as well.
To God be ALL the glory.

3. To #1&2 thank you for spreading the word! I cant wait to read GOD IN MY CORNER, and Im very happy that George has found Jesus and has changed his life for the better. But I must say(not to be negative)I find it very SAD that when the topic is not about GOSSIP or some celebrity's troubled life you get thousands of comments, but when you talk about something that is REAL(GOD) and will change your Life for the better you get about three comments. I just think it's sad that more people are not proud to know and serve God, or take the time to thank him or praise him(even on the blogs), but will take time to blog about sensless rumors and Gossip. I THANK YOU FATHER AND MAY YOU BLESS ALL THOSE THAT PRAISE YOU!

5. I Think this may be a very good read. Talking about what God has done in your life to make it better is always a good thing. I've also hearded that some people don't like the book because Mr Forman speaks negatively about a fight he had with Ali. He said that he was druged in his first fight with him.

6. In his first book he talked a lot about all the caribbean hos who were constantly after his money and the nightmare they put him through. Now he's married to one that doesn't even know her own name LOL LOL Poor George

7. George has been so voodooed by caribbean prostitutes he doesn't know if he's going or coming. They really prey on unsophisticated country boys.

http://acc6.its.brooklyn.cuny.edu/~scintech/mercury/index.html
Mercury is extremely poisonous and extremely toxic. Bad for people and bad for the environment.” When probed further about concerns people have about mercury, he added, “It’s like mercury is a heavy metal. It’s like mercury is an extremely toxic metal. So yeah. And you know it’s like lead in paint, there are all sorts of problems with mercury.” He said he did not know any specific symptoms that can result from mercury use, “But I know that death is one and madness is another, like mad as a hatter.

A...trick in full play these days comes from voodoo. Voodoo is in essence the control and manipulation of people by means of elemental mercury poisoning."

"The ore of mercury is used in many of the ceremonies and is prescribed by the witchdoctor for hanging around the neck in a sack as an amulet, placing around the persons environment in the home or car, and even ingesting it or soaking in a bath with it, which is the same thing as eating it. Mercury outgases in all of these things and is taken in through the lungs as well."

"Being a powerful neurotoxin, mercury creates a state in the adherent which makes them highly susceptible to suggestion and other mind control techniques."

9. Hello Mr.Foreman, I enjoyed hearing you speak on the TBN show. Your message was so simple. "Yes, Jesus Loves Me." I heard those words all my live in sunday school, and bible school, but when you said it, those words touched my soul. However, I am an inventor too, and wish I could market my invention soon. I live in Tulsa Oklahoma. The name of my invention: "Pass the dish Please "AKA" Food Service conveyor systems" It keeps hot foods hot and cold foods cold simultanously. I did not know the you are a man of faith with a deep spiritual connection. Thanks for your help. Pearl Beach P O Box 27122, Tulsa, Ok 74149.
