This 'Girlfriend' Lacks Extras

Posted Feb 27th 2007 6:56PM by Marcus Vanderberg
Filed under: Everybody Hates Marcus

Tuesday marked the DVD release of season one of the hit show 'Girlfriends.' For fans of the hit show, this DVD has nearly been seven years in the making. With the show on its seventh season, many people were wondering when Joan, Toni, Lynn and Maya would find their way to DVD shelves and Paramount/CBS answered the call.

The four-disc set features 23 episodes including the pilot, which has never been aired before. If anyone actually finds this pilot episode – please let me know. I looked over and over again on the DVD and couldn't find this "pilot" but I promise you it's indeed out there somewhere. Sadly, the DVD is lacking in terms of deleted scenes or the traditional extras you would find on a typical DVD.

Between BET and your local MyNetwork TV station, true fans have probably seen the first 22 episodes of 'Girlfriends' at nauseam numerous times. So that leaves the question of is the DVD worth paying $25 dollars for just for pilot episode? That choice is between you and your wallet but you would be better off saving the $25 bucks and waiting on the later seasons of the show to be released.

1. I know exactly what you mean. I bought the Martin Season 1 set and I was happy with having the show on DVD but there were no extras, no commentary, you can't even play the DVD from beginning to end. You have to play show by show, Very Annoying!!!

2. I guess we have a choice to make. Buy the DVD or wait for the re-runs to come on BET, TV one,or the CW in Baltimore and record them.
Hmmmmm.
